Innovation Foresight Sprint for a Global Cosmetics Product Brand
A global cosmetics brand engaged our team to conduct an innovation foresight sprint focused on their baby care segment in Brazil. The client, a established player in the personal care industry, sought to identify disruptive opportunities while building internal capabilities in design thinking methodology. Their primary market focus centered on the Brazilian baby care segment, where evolving consumer needs presented both challenges and opportunities.
Project Brief
The client sought to revolutionize their approach to baby care product innovation in the Brazilian market through a two-month intensive sprint. Key objectives included identifying areas of potential disruption and developing the team's capacity to execute future design thinking initiatives independently. The project targeted a dual outcome of immediate market insights and long-term organizational capability building.
Our Approach
We implemented a comprehensive six-stage methodology combining design thinking principles with rigorous data analysis. The process began with an immersive design thinking workshop, followed by secondary research, initial sensemaking, primary research, synthesis and ideation workshops, and culminated in prototyping. Our team extracted over 400 metafacts from market research and conducted structured analysis using affinity mapping techniques. Collaborative tools, including Miro boards, facilitated remote and in-person teamwork throughout the sprint.
Internal Workshops
Two full-day workshops anchored the project, engaging ten team members from diverse functional areas. The kickoff workshop introduced design thinking methodology and sprint objectives, while the synthesis workshop focused on problem statement generation using the "How Might We" technique. Workshop activities included empathic conversation training, collaborative ideation sessions, and structured concept development using templated sheets.
Key Discoveries and Client Impact
The sprint yielded over 20 detailed product concepts for future development, with two priority initiatives selected for immediate prototyping through effort-impact analysis. The team developed robust capabilities in design thinking, empathic research methods, and systematic innovation processes. Deliverables included comprehensive documentation of market insights, structured ideation frameworks, and detailed concept sheets. This foundation positioned the client to independently drive future innovation initiatives while maintaining strategic alignment with market opportunities.
